Machine Learning and User Experience

We are looking for innovative scientist who will guide our efforts in this emerging and exciting field.

Computer Scientist – Machine Learning and User Experience

Your Role: You would work on data analysis and machine learning models. You would create visualizations and user interfaces to make the results usable and enable exploration of the data. Therefore, knowledge of machine learning and computational models is essential, while interest in user-centered design and interaction is desirable. The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires problem-solving skills and self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.

 

The Team: The Interaction Design and Technologies  team at the Fraunhofer IAO and IAT University of Stuttgart, combines competences from User Research, Design, and Data Science. Our mission is to help enterprises to act intelligently and successfully by empowering people through valuable and intuitive information and interaction technologies. The team is responsible for building and executing AI technologies and intuitive interfaces for augmenting various business processes. 

The Impact: This role will have a significant impact on the success of ours AI Innovation Center  and team strategy ranging from choosing which projects should be undertaken, to delivering high quality solution in the field of AI and Human-Computer Interaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop promising applications of AI/ML to improve the efficiency and user experience of business processes such as in automotive environment in industrial production
  • Multicriteria analysis and visualization of diverse data (Web, social media, etc.) to support intelligent decision-making
  • Dive deep in the ML+UX use case domains of automation, personalization, and recommendations
  • Take a human-centered approach to algorithmic fairness, access, and deployment
  • Communication with different stakeholders, and presentation at scientific forums

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, HCI or related field (completed or to be completed in near future)
  • Experience in Data Science and Machine learning methods, e.g., classification, clustering, regression analyses, NLP, deep learning, etc.
  • Working knowledge of typical ML libraries, skills in Python and/or R.
  • Interest in HCI, design patterns and user experience methodologies
  • Familiarity with wireframes, mockups, graphics, would be a plus.
  • A creative, interdisciplinary, and entrepreneurial approach to research and development
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent English and German
